Are you wondering who created your favorite font? or when it was first released? and any other background information. Now you may know about it thorough a wikepedia-like website called Typedia.

Shared Encyclopedia of Typefaces or Fonts

In a nutshell, Typedia is a community website to classify typefaces and educate people about them. Think of it like a mix between IMDb and Wikipedia, but just for type. Anyone can join, add, and edit pages for typefaces or for the people behind the type.

Typedia is a free online service and doesn't require login for basic searching.

How to display numbers as Years and Months in Excel

Given a decimal number of 7.69, how will you get its Years and Months equivalent?. This was the problem raised by a colleague and the excel formula for it is:

=INT(A1) & " years / " & INT((A1-INT(A1))*12) & " months"

Where A1 is the cell contains the decimal number to convert.

So using the formula above, 7.69 = 7 years / 8 months

Outlook Add-in to convert email into a meeting request

Yesterday, I talked about a cool MS Outlook plugin called Reply All with Attachments. On this blog entry, I will mention another useful add-in that let users convert existing email thread into a follow-up meeting request. Splus Add-In is created by Ashwin that adds a "Schedule Meeting" button under "Customs Actions" toolbar button.

There is a bit more to it - if you want to do the follow-up 1:1 with the sender (when there is just one person in To line and no one in CC), then the meeting room location shows up as the ’s office (Of course you can edit and change it to your office as well).

This plugin is tested with Outlook 2007 under Windows Vista.

Reply All with Attachments (MS Outlook Plugin)

One thing I like about the Outlook 2007 is that it can be extended with free plugins. An example of useful plugin is the Reply All With Attachments. It is a MS Outlook plugin for users who regularly include attachments that were attached to email messages that they received. The plugin adds "Reply All with Attachment" under "Custom Actions" button that when clicked it will automatically open a new email with all attachments of the original email attached.
